Genesis 8:13 And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry.
Here is a timeline where the units are measured in centuries.
Year 1 of century 1 is 001 Year 1 of century 2 is 101 ... Year 1 of century 7 is 601. On the exact first day of the 7th century, Noah removed the cover of the ark and the ground was dry- destruction and the flood were over!

Hello 'lookingup' I am new to this forum and reading through posts I came upon your post. Hmmm... Are you saying that Noah removed the cover of the ark on the first day of 601 years after creation?? Or am I misunderstanding you? I believe that Genesis 8:13 is referring to Noah's age. In the previous chaper Gen 7:6 and in Gen 7:11 we are told that Noah was 600 years old when the flood began so it seems quite logical we are going to be told his age when it ends. Also in the geneologies listed in Genesis 5 if you do the math the time from Adam to Noah seems to be 1656 years. Food for thought. God bless!

The point I was making was not what the 600 years measured but that this is another example of the pattern of time: 6 full units of time exactly until the end of the present age, followed by a renewed earth.
God Bless.
